Born in 1978 in Manchester, Mark Revels gained a First Class BA Honours degree from London's Wimbledon College of Art in 2001.
A multi-award winning professional sculptor, Revels has enjoyed high-profile projects with the BBC, Channel 4 and London's West End theatre companies.
He has exhibited in many of Northern Ireland's top venues, including the Ulster Museum, The MAC, F.E. M c William Gallery and the Void Arts Centre. Internationally, he has exhibited in Ireland, England, Croatia, France, America and China.
Revels has been commissioned to create large scale works both nationally and internationally. In 2014 Revels was flown to Los Angeles to work for Harvest Films to create a Brita TV commercial to highlight the dangers of sugary drinks. The project featured 221,314 sugar cubes and comprised of a giant human-shaped city. In the same month Revels had been working on the high-profile project, ‘Sugar Metropolis’ in New York, curated by Manon Slome at the new Sugar Hill Museum of Art.
In 2015 Revels was commissioned to create a large outdoor ceramic work, which was installed in the F.E Mc William Sculpture Garden, Northern Ireland. Later in 2015 Revels undertook two more high profile commissions, in July the sculptor was flown to New Orleans to create a large scale cityscape from sugar cubes, in conjunction with the annul American Association of Diabetes Educators conference. The client, ABBOT, a large pharmaceutical company based in San Diego, USA, are now in talks with the sculptor in relation to a future commission. In October Revels was commissioned by the Centre Pompidou to create a Sugar Metropolis, on display in Paris during October to November 2015
Revels has been known for his high profile ‘socially engaged’ projects, in particular would have been the sculptors involvement with the ‘Homeless Pod’ which was a makeshift sleeping shelter that appeared on the streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland firstly in 2014, reappearing in February 2015. It was a social experiment to highlight the issues of homelessness and received media coverage both nationally and internationally.

Revels has received three awards from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and delivers lectures and talks, nationally and internationally to schools, Colleges, Universities and to private organisations on Contemporary Sculpture.
Revels enjoys worldwide media coverage on his sculpture practice. Recently his work appeared in the international magazine, Ceramic Review.
